Dolby Vision Fall Back HDR Mode

Hi I’m actually runing Infuse 7.2.1 on my ATV 4K with an LG C8 OLED. During my Tests with Multiple Dolby Vision mkv files Im Not able to watch them with Infuse in Dolby Vision. They will automaticly play in HDR mode while other mkv files that only contain Dolby Vision play fine in Infuse. The ones who which play in HDR work fine in Dolby Vision on latest Plex App for Apple TV.

Is this caused because Infuse may prefere HDR metadata?

If the video file has both HDR and Dolby vision then you have a dual layer file which is not supported by the AppleTV. Plex will do a thing where it forces the Apple TV to switch the Dolby vision mode. It still plays back the HDR track but uses the AppleTV to upscale the video to Dolby vision.

Post the media info from one of the files to confirm.

Dual layer won’t play. AFAIK the only players that will play this are the oppo bluray players and the DuneHD players.

Thanks for the info I didn’t even knew that Plex is doing a conversion which I don’t want. I will check the DuneHD player.
