Dolby Vision and HDR playing in SDR

After iPadOS 26 update both Dolby vision and hdr10 files plays in SDR mode on my iPad Pro 12.9 5th gen. Is any one facing the same issue?

Is this affecting all files or just a few?

Does Infuse show a ‘DV’ or ‘HDR’ tag on the details page for the affected files?

Can you describe what you are seeing in the app which makes you believe the files are playing in SDR?

It is affecting all files. I have updated to iPad os 26 just 2 weeks back. How I am saying it’s playing like SDR is that until iPadOS 18.7.1 the same file with DV support played exactly as it intended to be on the iPad. But now the picture is very dark with very standard brightness…

I am using infuse and DV for years and the difference before iPadOS 26 and after is like day and night. Though infuse tag the files as DV the brightness is very dull and the picture is very dark in contrast.

Any update on this?

The fire core team has asked me to upload a sample video via email… I have uploaded a video where a same file in both 4K SDR and 4K DV being played. But you can’t see any major difference between both files.

The file name is screenrecording_11-22-2025 10-14-30_1

Would you also be able to send in the actual video you are playing? This would allow us to test the file here.

That entire file is 20+ gb… Uploading that much big file is extremely hard. Is there any other way around? Post ipados 26 only I face this issue.

You can use Mkvtoolnix to trim out a section of it
