Dolby Digital Plus Playback via HDMi

I hope this is posted in the right place.

Whenever I try to play a mkv-file on my iPad , which is connected via HDMI to my receiver, and it has a Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio track, my receiver only gets Stereo.

DTS plays just fine. Is there any way to get it to play surround?

I wish Infuse could support Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3) passthrough, or conversion to Dolby Digital (AC3) over HDMI and AirPlay on iOS/iPadOS. The current 5.1 Audio Over HDMI and AirPlay settings are awesome for AC3 and DTS passthrough but DD+ (.ec3) audio plays in 2ch stereo. It’s supported on nearly every iOS/iPadOS device and in other video apps on the App Store.
