I have plenty of material which I can’t play with the free version of Infuse, and I can only see that the common denominator is that they all feature 720p, or better, resolution. Does the free version not support HD video material? Based on the description of the free version, there’s no mention any HD video limitations, and the Pro version only mentions 4K material.
The usual reason for requiring the pro version is the audio track as it requires a licensing fee to Dolby … AC3, DTS or DTS-HD
Does the beta version you have for plex testing play these files?
But both AC3 and DTS support is included in the free version, correct? At least that is my clear understanding based on the front page information.
The β version played all my material without any issues, which is why I want to continue using Infuse. And I don’t mind paying for the pro version, I just find it very unclear why the free version only works for some of my material, when none of it has 4k resolution or uses HD audio codecs.
No AC3 and DTS are not included in the free version but are only available when you have Pro features.
In the App Store description for Infuse 5, the AC3 and DTS support are listed under the header ‘GET MORE WITH INFUSE PRO’ as they are Pro features.
Went and bought the Pro version, and now everything is running as expected.
Yeah, I found that after searching for the text specifically. I must say that I personally find it quite misleading that the free version says it supports these things in one of the first lines, and then you have to go down 75 lines before you actually find out, that you actually have to buy something else to actually get these features.
If these features are not in the free client, then it shouldn’t be mentioned along with all other features of the free client, or it should be really clearly marked.
