Hello everyone,
I’ve been using Infuse for a while now and I’m really impressed with it.
My setup:
Synology NAS / Infuse on Apple TV.
On the NAS, I have a folder called “Movies”, which is always displayed in Infuse.
Now I created a collection called “John Wayne” and moved the movies into it via Infuse.
In the “Movies” folder, I no longer see them, which is what I wanted. However, when I go to “Collections” and open “John Wayne”, I see all the movies next to each other, not inside a folder called “John Wayne”.
How can I get the John Wayne movies into a collection and have them displayed as a folder called “John Wayne”? So I can click the folder and all John Wayne movies are inside.
Thanks for your help!
I’ve have been trying to do this for years, infuse refuses to do smart folders which would do this. I had to use plex app to do it, which i don’t recommend because of the work needed to make it work.
I hope someone has a solution.
I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but does going to Settings > Collections & Groups and disabling Details View do what you’re looking for? This will show all the movies in a collection in the grid view instead of showing the information for the first movie and having to scroll the list at the bottom.
Thanks for the suggestion, but no, that’s not it.
the only way I did it was to create a couple of new genres, using Jellyfin, e.g your could create actors genre, and only add that genre to collections, that are made of actors, of course it’s means adding genre manually to meta data, I did it with marvel and a couple of others to add as favourites, not sure I’d do actors though, if you scroll down on movie info and click actors name it shows all there movies anyway.
I tried this (using Plex) and it works.
“the only way I did it was to create a couple of new genres”
I did do it with a “Superhero” collection, and also for my John Wayne Collection as it makes it easier to get to certain movies than doing an actor search.
I also last year created holiday genre (Christmas), and I also did a Christmas tv folder separate on server, so when Christmas comes round I pin Christmas movies to home and Christmas shows to favourites, I untick tv Christmas folder in folders, in January and it goes back to normal. Using Jellyfin or plex makes life easier, plus you have more artwork range.
Also you can add individual genres as favourites and add your own artwork.
By release date is a good home screen pin, I relabel it movie decades makes life easier with larger collections
Since there is no genre called Christmas, don’t know why, this is a way to use Plex to improve infuse. Plex uses smart folders, and this is a good way to fix the infuse short comings.
