The look and feel of ASS/SSA subtitle is completely depending on the people who made the subtitle – watching a subtitle with strange color or font or size or position is so painful.
So can you make a global option, disable ASS/SSA style, once it is disable, use the subtitle settings for SRT to render ASS/SSA?
And 2 issues:
Vertical position setting in a ASS/SSA subtitle, seems to be set based on Video height, for those letterboxing films, ASS/SSA subtitles are displayed at very high position even set Vertical to -2. In SRT subtitle, Vertical position is based on screen height, so subtitles are perfectly displayed within the bottom black bar.
Infuse will not add new subtitles if a movie is played once. Use above as sample, when I realised the bad of ASS subtitle, I converted it to SRT and uploaded to folder, quit movie and played it again, but new added subtitle couldn’t be detected. I have to quit Infuse, double-tap Home button, swipe up to kill Infuse app, relaunch it, open the same movie again, then it is able to find new added subtitle.
BTW, this version seems to be case sensitive when it finds subtitle files.

Yes, please implement this feature because almost all video download online is using ASS/SSA subtitles. Once ASS/SSA styling can be disabled, one can change the font size correctly.
Please note that quite a few video apps for IOS already have this feature built in in 2023 because this is the only solution allow people to change the font size correctly.
Currently, there is no way to change the style for .ass subtitles. I know implementing a full blown support on .ass style is very difficult. However, could Firecore at least to implement font size scaling for .ass subtitles? So that I could make the font look larger by scaling … Please.
Pretty much all Anime mkv use .ass as subtitles. Watching Anime on Infuse is pretty hard because the font size comes with the Anime video is usually very small. Without anyway to scale the font size a bit larger. I have to find other apps that support font scaling just for watching Anime videos…
On Apple TV, when playing videos with SRT subtitles, Infuse provides flexible and intuitive controls for adjusting subtitle appearance—such as font, size, and background opacity. These options make it much easier to increase contrast and subtitle size, which is especially important for viewers with visual impairments.
However, for videos that include only ASS subtitles, Infuse currently offers little to no ability to adjust subtitle styling.
I understand and appreciate the design rationale behind this behavior. ASS subtitles are often carefully authored with specific styling and positioning, and Infuse aims to respect the subtitle creator’s artistic and technical intent by rendering them as authored.
That said, this approach can be limiting for users with visual accessibility needs.
Suggestion:
It would be very helpful to offer an optional accessibility setting that allows users to override certain ASS subtitle style parameters—such as font size and background opacity—when needed. While such overrides may cause some subtitles to deviate from their original design or occasionally introduce layout issues, they would ensure that users can at least clearly read the subtitles.
Providing this as an explicit, opt-in accessibility feature would strike a good balance between respecting author intent and supporting users who rely on higher-contrast, larger subtitles for comfortable viewing.

Some people often ask why certain subtitles allow customization while others don’t—could this be due to subtitle formats like SRT or ASS? If so, which subtitle formats does Infuse support for custom formatting?
I find the ASS subtitles in many videos unacceptable; custom-displayed subtitles often perform much better, so I really hope to be able to customize ASS format subtitles.
please add custom style to ass subtitle like srt ，The picture shows bad ass format subtitles. I can’t adjust them, I can only endure it. The customization function of ass format subtitles should be the most basic function of the player.
@james People have been reporting this since 2017, so it seems to be a long-standing issue. Why can’t it be fixed by adding an option to ignore subtitle styles? Other players have addressed this problem in various ways. As an excellent player, why hasn’t Infuse resolved this for such a long time? It affects the viewing experience and drives users to switch to other players.
