Note: The issue described in this thread concerns the default “Recenly Added in …” lists (e.g., “Recently Added in Movies” and “Recently Added in TV Shows”) on the home screen when using Plex in direct mode.
First of all, the very reason these lists exist in direct mode escapes me. Every Plex library already includes default “Recently Added Movies” or “Recently Added TV” collections (without the “in”), so even if there were no issues with the Infuse lists, they would simply duplicate functionality already provided by Plex. Could these lists be removed from the default home screen layout when using direct mode?
The default “Recently Added in…” lists shown on the Infuse home screen are polluted by duplicates from Plex collections (both static and smart collections). They include items from other collections within the same library, in the order those collections are pinned under Plex Settings → Manage → Libraries.
The reason this issue may have gone largely unnoticed is, I suspect, that most users who use custom collections still keep the default “Recently Added” collection pinned at the top, since that’s Plex’s default configuration. As a result, the duplicates are only visible after scrolling some distance to the right. Furthermore, if you open the full list view by clicking “See All”, the duplicates disappear and the items are correctly sorted by Date Added.
To reproduce the issue without needing to scroll, simply pin any custom Plex collection above the “Recently Added” collection in Plex Settings → Manage → Libraries. You’ll then see items from those collections appear first in the “Recently Added in…” list. So, not only does this create duplicates, but it also makes the ordering incorrect, since one would expect this list to contain only recently added items.
P.S. This bug has been around for a long time (possibly since the introduction of direct mode?), but I previously worked around it by disabling the default “Recently Added in…” lists in the home screen customizations.
However, I now have to use the in-app Plex user switching because the system-wide user switching on Apple TV is currently broken. Since Infuse still doesn’t preserve home screen customizations when switching between Plex managed accounts, I can no longer permanently remove this list, as it reappears every time I switch users in-app.
