Custom Collections not syncing

Very simple set up

  • Pro subscription
  • Infuse on mac mini connected to external drive with all media files
  • iPad and Apple TV clients
  • iCloud sync enabled on all
  • Custom collection shows in the sync tab of collections (see screenshot)

The same custom collection does not show up on my iPad. It does not show up on the sync’d tab on my iPad either.

What am I missing?

You may want to check your settings for custom collections on the ipad and make sure it’s set correctly.

Everything else syncs (new media added).
Not sure what other settings i could have missed on the ipad.

Just to make sure, have you updated all devices to 8.1.6?

One thing to keep in mind is Infuse will keep local collections and streamed collections separate.

For example, if you have these files added to Infuse on your Mac using the ‘Local Folder’ option then collections you create with these items would not be available on other devices, as those devices would not have a way to actually access those files.

However, if you have the other devices set to stream files from this Mac (via something like SMB) creating a collection with files from the SMB connection (on any device) would then be available on all devices.

8.1.6 on the ipad (shows in screen shot), 8.0.5054 on my Mac.

You should probably update the mac to 8.1.6 since the iCloud sync won’t sync between 8.1.6 and earlier versions.

Also check out what James said above about the type of connections.

All other syncing works, however I will update the mac version for sure, and dig into the SMB (or delete and redefine). Thank you guys!

and like magic…I now see the custom collection on the iPad.
I did recreate the share, and update the mac side to 8.1.6, so one of those two worked. Wish I had done them one at a time.
