On iPad, it would be interesting to have the same option as the atv, like showing the currently watched and/or recently added. Not sure the screen size on iPhone would support that option.
Regarding the use of touchID, once I’m inside the app, I shouldn’t have to use it again when launching a file, which is currently the case with the latest version.
In that regard, the version 4 was more user-friendly.

We’re working on an all-new Apple TV inspired Library option for iOS which we plan to have available in 5.5.
With regard to Touch ID, you can avoid a PIN prompt on every video by adjusting the Parental Controls settings as described here. Authentification n'y code or Touch ID - #3 by james
