I foolishly tried the crystal Ubuntu xbmc to my ATV1 hard drive. Atvflash now fails on install, I assume atvflash can’t install because the ATV drive is now non standard. Is there a fix or am I screwed ?

To get the Apple TV back to normal you will probably have to re-setup the drive.

Shame there is not a usb stick that you can use to put the drive back to stock, just like there is to screw it up. I guess I am stuck with crystalbuntu then, as the wiki is to complicated to follow.
Try checking XBMChub, they are great trouble shooters and love crystal ubuntu.
