The reason I asked about the vizio is I have one and there’s a button on the remote that I hit by accident and it was a screen crop option. It did a similar thing to my movies and it took me forever to figure out that it was that darn button on the remote that had gotten pressed by accident.
The QuickTime Player shows that your ATV is putting out the whole pic so all I can say is dig around a bit and see if you can find the crop or stretch options.
If you post the model of your tv I’ll dig around if I get a chance later.
What if you change the ATV to output 4KSDR or 1080p, do you still see the same issue?
Are the overlay menus visible without subtitles enabled?
Do you have a separate TV or monitor you could test it with?
Can you provide details of the file in question?
If you have the ATV set to force 4KHDR without match content and match framerate then the TV will be receiving the same 4KHDR (presumably 60Hz) signal for everything, so it is odd behaviour and would suggest an issue with the source device rather than the TV.
One other simple test would be to change the ATV to a different HDMI port on the TV and see if a different port may have a default setting.
I found a users manual for your tv and it references adjusting “auto” cropping and other pic manipulation but it was not real detailed when explaining how to do it. If you still have the users manual I’d dig through that. The one I found wasn’t in English so I was wearing out Google Translate.
I am also seeing this same behavior on an ATV but it is only limited to DV Profile 5(DV with no HDR fallback). I assume this has something to do with what infuse is telling the TV about the file. I’ve reproduced it on multiple different TV’s (all without DV) and have tried different zoom settings to no avail. Match content on and off did not help either. I suspect it could be related to tone mapping.
EDIT: I tested different resolutions as well same issue. I checked on a 1080p TV. DV Profile 5 has the zooming but the other DV profiles do not (ones with HDR fallback). I suspect it is something to do with the handling of DV 5.
I was actually curious how something in Profile 5 and no HDR fallback on a Samsung TV could show anything but pink and green.
I’m pretty sure that would be noticed before any cropping issue, unless things have changed in the last couple of weeks since I eradicated DV from my media. @SRBGod are you absolutely sure the file is profile 5?
Of course, TV inputs can have different settings based on the input and dynamic range (HDR/SDR) so you may see an issue while playing some content both not while using normal menus or playing other videos.
Are you using HDMI UHD Color for the Apple TV input? I did check those zoom settings and they didn’t help. Right now my atv is set to 4K SDR with content and frame rate matching. (I tried forcing it to 4K HDR as well that didn’t help)
I can actually confirm the cropping does not occur with TV series at all. It is only occurring with DV profile 5 movies. I tested a profile 5 tv show it all went perfect. I am assuming it is something with aspect ratio. @james did you give it a shot with a movie? (i am suspecting it will trigger the issue)
