Everybody’s got their own “basic feature”. Be glad that this one is marked as Planned. ![]()
Hello @james ![]()
I’m in trouble again with TMDB, because they won’t accept that certain series are a “MINISERIES” and declare it as “scripted” instead! ![]()
You once said that it is a bigger Effort to implement Full NFO-Support for TV-Series.
But instead, as a temporary Compromise, could you at least make it possible for us to override the Series-Title with an NFO-File! Then we could just create an empty Template-Series-Entry in TMDB and use that for all Series and just override the Series-Title.
Because we already can override nearly everything with an NFO-File (Episode-Name, Plot, Actors etc.) but only the Title-Tag (and Genre-Tag) currently don’t work
And I’m sure just overriding the Series-Title is far easier to implement and it would save us a lot of Hassle and Discussion with these TMDB Guys

Assuming you posted this prior to my reply to your similar post in a different thread. ![]()
And hopefully after the 7.7 Release, we NONE Emby/Jellyfin/Plex Users will also get finally some basic Features like NFO-TV-Show Support, Custom Collections Artwork etc. ![]()
Wait. There is no tv nfo support in this app?!?!
Just got the app and been nfo’ing my whole collection in order to speed up the app and not rely on scrappers me anymore.
That’s dumb.
There actually is. It’s just a bit limited.
It’s still not possible to make TV-Shows with NFO only (without TMDB) ![]()
And always other Things (currently Emby/Plex DirectMode) is prioritized… We waiting for many, many Years for this basic Feature now…
Although I don’t always agree with all of your comments, in this case I have a lot of sympathy.
I do use direct mode (with Plex).
That said that’s only because I can’t use it natively solely because of a lack of full .nfo support.
(Trakt and the fact that there’s a whole bunch of stuff that Trakt still sees only on TVDB (and no I’m not about to start making a collection out of 140+ Tom and Jerry files as one example) when sorting/filters are so limited and they already display and work fine as a TV show using TVDB)
Then I’m pretty sure I saw a metric somewhere from James a while ago that an absolutely huge majority of Infuse users use it natively and not through a server. So again I both sympathise and really hope that once direct mode is implemented we don’t have months of tweaking at the expense of working on things like .nfos, better sorting and filtering, alphabetical jump lists etc…
I have zero desire to run any server. Unfortunately at the moment there’s no option but to do so.
Just Sayin’
Definitely did that with my looney tunes…
I am also waiting for this. Shows that were aired on TV decades ago are a pain in the ass to have in Infuse. Seems like a simple fix, ain’t it?
please add support for this
I’ve also been waiting for this support. Would be really helpful for some shows.

As a new user I spent days trying to debug this problem, and a session with support that is still ongoing, only to discover the answer is that TV shows are not supported using 100% offline metadata, there is only limited support to override specific properties as a supplement to online metadata.
While that’s pretty unfortunate, and I’m now going to give some thought to whether this is actually the right product to pay to subscribe to given this important limitation, I have to say what I’m most annoyed about right now is that this isn’t documented on support pages like Overriding Artwork and Metadata – Firecore Support - sure that article does refer to “overriding” rather than “using”, but “Metadata: Local” is an option at a folder level and it works fine for movies (at least afaict) but not at all for TV shows.
So I’m very grateful for the clarity of this thread, I just wish the limitation was actually explained in the support documentation and that support staff were aware of this limitation rather than suggesting I must be doing something wrong with my naming convention when no TV shows are appearing in my Library.
I hope after so many Years, that this basic Feature will finally get implemented…
It’s one of the most voted Feature-Request…
Now it’s really the Time, to give us Support for complete Offline-Metadata in Infuse ![]()

Indeed, couldn’t agree more!
Honestly, this is kind of crazy that such a small feature (development-wise) but so requested and useful is still not implemented after all these years.
Hopefully this will get some attention.

Thanks for reminding me, I thought I did it already… apparently not !
Hi all, another relatively new user of Infuse for AppleTV who is very disappointed by the lack of this feature.
I have upvoted (liked) the first post in this six to seven year thread if that helps. However it is depressing to see that this request has been in “Planned” mode since Sep 2022, well over two years and no sign of it becoming “Pending” or a reality.
Like everyone else I have many use cases and many, many, many digital files I want to present as structured TV series and very frustrated to be unable to do so without twisting around and dummying over (using/abusing) some random existing TMDB series and still end up with a suboptimal result.
When first using Infuse the initial impression was very good and I was certainly prepared to pay for a subscription as I believe in supporting developers of software I actually find very useful (as an IT person of some 40 years standing). However this roadblock puts an end to that and I shall be looking at other options having previously given up on Plex.
My content is on a raided network device and I don’t think it supports Emby so I may simply go back to VLC and SMB file/folder browsing for the time being.
So please add my very strong vote for this NFO/XML feature to give us full independence (where we need it) from TMDB, for what that is worth.
As a side note, I did install TinyMediaManager before coming to this full realisation, and it seems to have indexed a lot of my files but I can’t see how to export an NFO file from it. Any one help there?
