Hi. I’ve started using Plex instead of emby. I ran some speed tests on various files, and the results were wildly different. I can start a test on the same file which will show it beginning at 500 MB connection and mostly stay there, then instantly restart the speed test on the same file to show it gets a 45 MB connection and doesn’t go much higher. The same thing happens with every other file I’ve tried running a speed test on. I’ve sent a diagnostics report reference number YABGQ. Any ideas about why on earth this would happen?
I’ve seen wide fluctuations like this when you quit a video (or test) and another process starts in the background like syncing with iCloud or scanning a server for changes. It takes a bit for a process to exit gracefully so you may get low speeds until it can halt the background processes.
The same holds true for other devices on your network taking priority when you stop the big draws and also must gracefully pause for the network to resume faster speeds.
Are you actually seeing problems while viewing a video or are you just worry about the test numbers?
Yeah I’m the guy that’s reported the ‘intermittent black screen’ that I keep going on about Having said that I haven’t had the intermittent black screen since I first reported it on another thread here. So I was just kind of concerned that these speeds were so wildly different. But obviously I’ll let you know the second I have any issues
