Crashing after sleep

For the last few months, I have been seeing problems with crashes 5-15 minutes after playback resume from wake.

Steps to reproduce.

  • 1st Gen Apple TV 4k Fully Updated
  • Host your Media Files on an SMB via Samba on Linux (e.g. TrueNas)
  • Play a very large media file 40+ GB for about 10 minutes.
  • Pause and let Apple TV go to sleep.
  • Wait a while.
  • Wake from sleep.
  • If it does play from sleep, it will eventually freeze once the disk buffer has been exhausted. Seems like a problem of not reconnecting to the SMB Share. Sometimes this will also happen after resume playback after the screensaver.

Does it do the same thing if you stop playback and let it go to sleep?

In a recent update to Infuse, stopping (if it lets you stop and just doesn’t hang with the circle spinner) may resolve it otherwise forcibly closing and reopening the app will resolve. Previous versions, stopping would not resolve.

Just incase I misunderstood.

Playing (everything working okay) then stopping fully and back to the menu screen then sleep is okay.

I have terrible ADHD and basically start things, pause to go do something, then just walk out of the room and never come back.

Same (almost) issue on the latest Apple TV connected to plex. Not even having to sleep, just pausing for some time causes playback to stop when the initial buffer ended after resuming. Need to reopen the video to continue. Basically buffering is broken after pausing for some weeks now.

After 5 months this is still happening. Anyone find a fix? Has this been addressed by the Firecore team?

This isn’t an infuse problem, this happens to YouTube/Youtube TV. If you don’t go to Home Screen the apps freeze when going back in. Its a TVOS issue, I think the apps should just be closed out when the Apple TV goes to sleep

I’ve never had this happen on YouTube or any other applications.

I personally think Infuse should not attempt to start again at all but rather go back to the Details page.
