Crash Issue with Large Font Attachments in MKV Files (Apple TV)

Infuse crashes during playback (when seeking/skipping) if the MKV file contains embedded font attachments larger than approximately 130MB.

Additional Findings:

  • Under Settings > Streaming Cache, if the option is set to Auto, playback will crash.
  • If I switch the setting to Legacy, playback is more stable, but still not 100%—crashes can still happen, just less frequently.
  • After manually removing the large font attachments from the MKV file (e.g., using MKVToolNix), the crashing stops entirely.

Environment Details:

  • Device: Apple TV 4K (A15)
  • tvOS Version: 18.5 (22L572)
  • Infuse Version: Infuse Pro 8.1.8 (5221)
  • Diagnostic Code: WVX9D

I’d be happy to provide sample files if it helps you reproduce the issue.

Yes, if you’re able to send in one of the problematic files it could help us in looking further info this issue. Thanks!

I’ve already uploaded the file — the filename is MKV Attachments Test file.mkv .

Does playing this sample file on your Apple TV also result in a crash? Is there a specific point in the file where this occurs?

I tried playing the file you uploaded here on an ATV4K (3rd gen) with Auto streaming cache and it seemed to play without issue.

If I let the file play all the way through, it’s fine. But if I pause and use the progress bar to jump to another point, the app crashes. While scrubbing, the preview thumbnail above the progress bar also stays blank..

Any updates on this?
