Connecting to the server takes around 36 Seconds (Apple TV/Infuse Pro)

I’m not sure if this is normal, but it’s taking around 36 seconds to open my Movies and TV Shows folders in the Infuse app. The initial library scan has already completed, and I have approximately 1,500 movies and TV shows in each folder.

The issue occurs on my latest-generation Apple TV 4K (128GB) connected via Wi-Fi, with the media stored on a Synology NAS.

This is my first time using Infuse, so I’m wondering if this level of delay is normal, or if there may be a performance issue with my setup.

Any clues on what I can do to troubleshoot? For example, are there any known performance issues with large libraries, Synology NAS settings, SMB vs NFS, metadata indexing, or Apple TV network connectivity that I should check? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If you are browsing through a normal folder structure (IE not using the Infuse library) and there are many items in each folder, you may consider disabling the Smart Folders feature. Having this off will make browsing substantially faster.

Thanks for the reply. Compared to my other media players in the house (Kodi and Zidoo), the loading time still seems quite long. My folder structure is already well organised, with each movie folder containing only 4–5 files (the movie file, subtitles, and related metadata).

I’d prefer keep artwork (wife approve :grin: ), so using Smart Folders may be the best option for now. Hopefully performance can be improved in future releases, as everything else has been working very well.
