Clone jailbroken ATV2

Hi all,

I have 2 jailbroken ATVs in my house which work fine.

I’ve just tried jailbraking my latest one (4.4.4) and I keep getting that “this device isn’t eligible…” error.  I’ve tried every instruction in this forum to jailbreak it but no luck.

So I’m wondering if there is a way to ‘clone’ one of my working jailbroken ATVs and copy that to the ATV thats not jailbreaking?

Hopefully something is possible.

Thanks

You cannot clone a jailbreak you need to follow this http://forum.firecore.com/topic/7279 to jailbreak it.

However you can clone XBMC from one to another after it is jailbroken of course.

There is an inkling of possibility, but the direction should be focused on just gaining root access to the gen 2. from there anything is possible.

I followed that post without luck. I got all the way to the end and got an error from iTunes when trying to restore the “jailbroken” file.

It was a difficult (and long) set of instructions to follow and the english was a little hard to understand - if someone wants to rewrite that as a proper step-by-step tutorial it would probably help.

Otherwise I’ll just update my ATV and wait for a jailbreak.

Would you give more info on how to clone xbmc from 1 to another ATV (both are JB off course)

I have one ATV with lot of add-on…planing to set up xbmc on 2nd ATV, I honestly dont want to add the add-on manually…

I assume using program like Winspc access to the ATV copy and paste the xmbc folder???

thanks,

It’s actually quite simple

  1. Using your SSH tool of choice, copy the following directory:

/private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC

  1. Now take that folder and place it directly into the same file path on the new ATV2.

  2. Once completed, run the following command via your terminal of choice: I use Putty

chown -R mobile.mobile /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC

You are done

With cloning you still need to install ATV Flash and Install XBMC, the clone part described here clones all your settings and addons

Thanks,

I don’t minding install the xmbc and ATV Flash cause it  quite simple. Add-on are the one taking time to do.

Thanks

You got that right!

Whoa, does this do what I think it does?  So if you have say Hulu enabled on one ATV2 and you follow these instructions then the other ATV2 will have it enabled after you finishing installing XBMC?  You don’t have to install from zip file and then go in and click install to enable it?

This works, you rock!
