Can't connect APPLE TV when on Ethernet

Infuse on my apple TV, macbook, iphone works flawless with WiFi connection across all devices. The moment I plug my APPLE TV into ethernet via my Orbi router port it fails to connect. Other devices still working. Streaming on my AppleTV across all other services works on ethernet. But it can’t connect to my local files on Infuse. Any thoughts?

A bit more info may help, what are you streaming from locally? NAS, computer, Plex server, etc?

How is that server connected? Ethernet, WiFi ?

What version number of Infuse?

If your streaming from a computer what OS version number?

Thanks for the reply! Appreciate any help.

Server = Macbook MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2 connected via Wifi
Macbook = Macbook MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2 Infuse 8.1.2 Works great, Wifi connected
Iphone = iOs 18.3.2 Infuse 8.1.2 also same Wifi
Apple TV = TVOS 18.3 and Infuse Pro 8.1.2 (51200) Connected via ethernet directly to same router where other devices are connect via wifi. All other apps work, for streaming content. Plex even works with this setup. If I disconnect the Ethernet and put the appleTV on the Wifi than Infuse starts to work.

Submitted a helpdesk ticket. Will add this info there as well.

This is probably a router configuration issue (maybe double NAT) that is preventing local devices from communicating. This would likely not affect connecting to internet services.

You may check and compare the IP address your Apple TV gets while on Wi-Fi vs Ethernet to see if it’s the same subnet. The current IP address can be found in Apple TV Settings > Network.

If you’re using any router based features on your internet modem it’s usually best to put any other routers in bridge mode to avoid creating multiple networks.

You’ve pointed me in the right direction, thank you! I checked and when connected via ethernet my router shows the AppleTV is IP 192.168.1.x and when I unplug the and connects via wifi IP is switching to 192.168.1.xx

My modem is a modem only, not a combo so no other routers present except for two satellites upstairs which came with this mesh network.

In my router setting I can’t figure out why its reassigning IP based on type of connection to AppleTV. I know this is beyond an Infuse support issue, this is a router/networking issue but any thoughts would be highly appreciated!

Your ATV will have two different MAC addresses, one for WiFi and one for Ethernet so each will have a unique IP address. The Mac can use both at the same time so a different IP is nessasary.

So if this is normal behavior of the router, to assign IP based on connection type, why does Infuse fail to connect to other devices on ethernet but works on Wifi. Still confused. It’s using SMB

Infuse will treat Wi-Fi and ethernet equally so there is likely something going on in the Orbi settings that is limiting connections over Ethernet.

I don’t have experience with Orbi devices but I found a few threads where others are discussing similar issues.

Cant tell you how much I appreciate the help! Thanks again
