Cannot save new share, specific circumstanace

Infuse Pro 8.1.1, iOS 17.7.10, iPad Pro 10.5 in MPF22LL/A

I have attached a media drive to a wizened old Airport Time Capsule without a user account or password on the Airport or the drive. I can browse to the drive from Mac OS and from iOS without difficulty. However, I do not seem to be able to add the volume as a “share” in Infuse. I can browse into the volume using “Add Files → Saved shares → Add…” but the browse dialog never presents the opportunity to save either the path to the shared volume or to any folder within the volume.

The Airport does appear as an available SMB share in the “Add Files → Available shares” list but adding it there without a username and password produces an error. Simply adding the admin PW without a username also generates an error.

I am mighty puzzled. Any thoughts?

username “admin” plus device PW, in this case the same as the LAN wifi PW
