I really question my sanity since both Infuse Pro 8.4.8 over SMB and Plex PMS independently fail all Bonus Content formats I tested. I’m not using Plex PMS in Infuse, just for this test. I’m confident the Bonus Content (hereafter called “extras”) worked when introduced in 8.4. The following structure worked then:
/The Big Bang Theory
/Season 01
Quantum Mechanics of The Big Bang Theory-featurette.mkv
Some release later, all my extras disappeared and just showed up in Library > Other. Both Infuse over SMB and Plex PMS fail with the following four extras test files. I must be an idiot! I have both refreshed the Library and refreshed metadata for both Infuse (smb) and Plex PMS:
/The Big Bang Theory
/Season 01
Quantum Mechanics of The Big Bang Theory-featurette.mkv
The.Big.Bang.Theory.S01E17.Quantum Mechanics of The Big Bang Theory-featurette.mkv
/Featurettes
Quantum Mechanics of The Big Bang Theory-featurette.mkv
Quantum Mechanics test test.mkv
Note that the file The.Big.Bang.Theory.S01E17.Quantum Mechanics of The Big Bang Theory-featurette.mkv does not end up in Infuse Library > Other, but as a duplicate episode S01E17. I followed the guidelines in Metadata 101.
Question 1: What am I doing wrong?
Question 2: Does Infuse support ‘Plex style extras’ for Infuse over SMB? Hence, supporting extras tied to a specific season, but not to a specific episode, (e.g. tvshow-title / season 01 / text_string-featurette.mkv)?
Lucky you! It does not work for me. I am curious: Are you also able to make “Castle 2009-featurette.mkv” to work (dropping the episode number S01E01, but in the same ‘Season 01’ folder)?
I see this as a bug. Episode names should not have naming restrictions to make -featurette to work. And the featurette file should be allowed a text string after episode name SxEx to be used as a ‘extras’ title in Infuse; especially to distinguish between multiple extras of same episode. This used to work for 8.4! Hence this should be allowed:
The.Big.Bang.Theory.S01E01.1080p.BluRay.DD5.1.x264-NTb.mkv
The.Big.Bang.Theory.S01E01.Quantum Mechanics of The Big Bang Theory-featurette.mkv
Bullseye, are you able to make an extras video that is only tied to the season, and not an episode? Is this not supported, even though Plex supports this for TV Shows?
If you take out everything in the extra before the “-featurette” it will work. You don’t need the extra verbage on the actual feature file, just the season and episode number and the extra type.
Well, yes and no. Let me re-iterate and emphasize. The two examples below both fail for me, by Infuse making the ‘extra’ an ep duplicate. Can you reproduce (use exactly my filenames) the fail:
The.Big.Bang.Theory.S01E01.1080p.BluRay.DD5.1.x264-NTb.mkv
The.Big.Bang.Theory.S01E01-featurette.mkv (becomes ep duplicate)
The.Big.Bang.Theory.S01E01 blah blah blah.mkv
The.Big.Bang.Theory.S01E01-featurette.mkv (becomes ep duplicate)
Before I go to bed. I can confirm that I now have exactly your folder structure and file names for the first episode and -featurette, and it fails: the featurette becomes an episode duplicate.
