Black screen with inactivity

Hello. New Infuse user here, trying out the app. It seems to do most of what I need but one thing that bugs me is it seems to have its own ‘screensaver’ built in. When left inactive, the app goes black. It can be a paused video or just having the app open and not doing anything, after a few minutes the screen goes black. The first time it happened I thought my TV had turned off. Is there a way to turn this off? I don’t see the point of it if the AppleTV already has a screensaver.

It does not have its own screensaver. Are you sure the TV isn’t doing something?

Thanks. It started when installing Infuse which led me to think it was that app. So now I see it’s happening even in other apps and on the Home Screen. The LG TV has energy saver disabled, so I force quit Insuse and restarted the AppleTV and now the correct screensaver comes up after 10 minutes and not a black screen. I’ll then try using Infuse again and report if the black screen comes back..

I’ve narrowed it down to be AppleTV-related, and the problem still happens. It seems to only go away for awhile if I reboot the AppleTV. I quit all open apps except for Infuse and it still happens.

Whatever is on the screen slides down off screen and only black remains. The AppleTV is still on. While the screen is black and I press and hold the remote TV button and I get the control centre while the black screen remains.

My next test is to quit all apps and reboot the AppleTV. If the problem is gone then I will use Infuse and then see if the problem returns and report back here.

Hello. I did further testing which seems to confirm it is Infuse that is the cause of the black screen. This is what I did:

  • quit all open apps
  • restarted the AppleTV
  • only used apps like YouTube and Emby. I did not open Infuse at all.

I did that for a few days and the black screen did not happen. Then today I did this:

  • quit all open apps
  • restarted the Apple TV
  • only used Infuse. Watched 1 TV episode via Emby in Infuse.

I then left the tv alone and eventually the screen went black again. So what else could it be if the only open app was Infuse, and the problem doesn’t happen if Infuse is not used?
