Basic Media App Problem

I suspect my problem is so simple that I will be embarrassed by the solution, but I’ve spent enough time trying to figure it out by myself.

I have two ATV2s with the most recent aTV Flash (black) installed on each of them.  I am using Windows 7.  My video files (.avi, .mkv and .mp4) and audio files (.aac and .mp3) are on drives other than c:

I have the folders shared.

I can view video from the folders using Plex on my PS3 and on my Roku 2 XS, but not using either ATV.

When I enter “Media” I select the shared device.

When I enter the shared device, I see only one folder “Users”.  I enter it.

I see only one folder “Public”.  I enter it.

I see six folders, one of which is Video.  I enter it.

When I enter it, I see only one file.

What do I need to do to be able to see the other shared folders on my device?

Thanks for help with this simple question.

Based on your description it sounds like the Apple TV is conencting as a guest instead of a registered user.

Can you confirm you have entered the correct username and password (for your PC) when setting up the share through the Media --> Settings --> Manage Shares menu?

I don’t use a user name and password for either my desktop computer or for setting up my shares. I have shares set to “read only homegroup”.

Thanks for your continuing support.
