Bad results with Metadata fetching, seeking guidance for Movie naming conventions

Hi,

I am using Media Player 0.9.4-161558 and I am having mixed results with Metadata fetching for movies.

I have looked through the FAQ and previous forum posts but could not find any useful info.

In particular I would like to know how to best rename files for movies.

For example with the list below see the results, I get, it’s pretty bad:

So, as you can see I have tried to follow the following naming convention:

Movie.Name.#.Year.Production.FRENCH.BlaBla.avi but it doesn’t work.

What is the best way to name movies?

Is it better to use spaces or dots?

Is it better to include the year between brackets? or avoid year?

Is it better to remove blabla?

Optionally would there be a way to grab metadata in French? Does it mean the movie name would better be in French or stick to original english movie name?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I tend to use the title (with spaces) followed by the year in brackets and this seems to work well.   I am however getting English metadata - I do not know if there is a good way to get it for any other language, but I nsuspect you probably have to ahve the title in the langiage you are trying to retrieve.

All right will try this. So you name your files like this:

Bambi (1942).avi

But do you remove the stuff after the year? Sometimes it is quite useful to remember the language or the video quality… Like FRENCH or 720p…

Would be great to get some input from the ATV Flash developers…

Cheers,
