Avi files with itunes.

All sources I’ve checked says there is no way for itunes to receive a .avi file for streaming. This kind of defeats the purpose of hacking my apple tv. So far the only work around i have found is putting the movie directly on the Apple tv via ftp. And I was under the impression that i was gonna be able to quickly be able to browse a dir of movies on my external HD and just watch it…I’m hoping someone might have an alternate way for doing this.

I use iDealshare VideoGo to convert AVI, MKV, WMV and etc to iTunes supported format.

Just google search Step by Step Guide on How to Convert AVI to iTunes with iDealshare VideoGo, you will find a detailed solution.

Hi. I have the same question. Is there a workaround from within itunes?

You can use Avdshare Video Converter to Convert AVI to iTunes supported MP4, M4V or MOV without re-compressing video data or losing any video quality.
