Audio Sync Issues on tvOS 18.1 with Infuse 8.0.3

Audio Sync Issues on tvOS 18.1 with Infuse 8.0.3

After updating to tvOS 18.1 and Infuse 8.0.3, I’ve started experiencing audio sync issues. Here’s a breakdown of my setups:

Working Setup:
• tvOS: 17.6
• Infuse: 7.8
• Audio Sync: No issues, perfect sync.

Affected Setup:
• tvOS: 18.1
• Infuse: 8.0.3
• Audio Sync Issue: Audio is delayed by about 4-5 frames across multiple formats, including AAC 5.1, DTS 5.1, and AAC Stereo.

I’ve attached video clips below that demonstrate the sync problem. I know a temporary bandaid can be to manually adjust audio delay, but wanted to bring this issue to your attention.

I don’t know if its tvOS or Infuse causing the issue, I do not want to update me other TV to find out…

Infuse 7.6, tvOS 17.6 DTS 5.1:

Infuse 8.03, tvOS 18.1 AAC 5.1:

To add to this, these files are in perfect sync on tvOS 18.1 within the Plex client but still about 170ms delayed in Infuse playback. If it helps to submit a diagnostic I can do so. Thanks in advance.

What type of device is this Apple TV connected to (EG AV receiver, TV, soundbar, etc…)?

Do you have the Match Content options enabled on the Apple TV?

Can you try resetting the Apple TV’s Video Settings (found in Apple TV Settings > Video & Audio) and the re-enabling the Match Content options to see if this makes a difference?

Hi James,

This particular TV is just outputting audio through its built in speakers.

Typically I do not have Match Content options enabled because I use SDR only settings and SDR content for all of my personal media.

However, I followed your suggestions to reset video settings and re-enabled Match Content options to test the files. I am seeing a very slight improvement, by approximately one frame.

I noticed the same today. The audio was slightly out of sync.

I noticed the same, audio lagg on TVos 18.1 jellyfin plugin. No lagg when using the official jellyfin app.

I’m on 8.0.4
tvOS 18.1 [22J580]

What version of Jellyfin and what plugin version?

Hey👋
Sorry for the late answer, but here we go:
Jellyfin 10.10.3
Jellyfin plugin InfuseSync 1.5.0.0

Apple TV 4K 128GB 3. gen (A2843)
TvOS 18.1 (22J580)
Infuse Pro 8.0.4 (5022)

@James solution a few post up fixed the audio delay :folded_hands:
First Reset Video settings
Reapplying match content:
Match Dynamic Range = On
Match Frame Rate = On
4K HDR 60 (59,94Hz)

Good to see that fixed it for you.

Still experiencing some delay on my set up, so I am curious, has anyone on the dev team experienced/been able to recreate the issue even with match content turned on?

Cheers

I haven’t been able to use Infuse for at least 3 weeks now due to the audio streams being out of sync. The suggested settings reset made no difference. I had to switch back to using Plex for now.

Just wondering if this is being looked into.
I haven’t been able to use Infuse in about 4 weeks now due to the audio being out of sync.
Resetting the Apple TV’s video settings didn’t make a difference.
Plex works without issues.

We haven’t had any luck reproducing the issue, and are not seeing widespread reports of sync issues related to Infuse 8 or tvOS 18. That doesn’t mean the behavior isn’t real, but it may indicate a specific environmental factor being the cause.

Have you had a chance to update to tvOS 18.2 and Infuse 8.0.5 to see if the issue is still present?

Hi James. Thanks for the info. I just took a look at my test files again on 18.2 and Infuse 8.0.5 and still seeming similar results. It’s strange, as the different audio formats are all slightly off by their own unique amount. Which obviously can be frustrating when trying to watch things. I find myself staring at lips more than I’d like to lol.

After the holidays, I will try to bring this Apple TV around my house and try the different audio setups. This particular one is just playing over the TV speakers, but I can test via Homepod minis and AVR when I have some free time.

Cheers

I updated to the 18.3 tvOS developer beta, and the problem seems to be gone for now. I was already using Infuse 8.0.5.

Alright, this is embarrassing. I tested my Apple TV with tvOS 17 and Infuse 7.x on the television having sync issues, and the issue was still present. So it is my TV causing the problems, somehow. Sorry about that.
