Audio drops out/crackles with AirPods Pro on iOS 14

I’ve been having this problem since iOS 14 public beta, but it’s still happening on the official iOS 14 release. During video playback, the audio stream drops out for a couple seconds at a time and often crackles. Sounds like a Bluetooth connection/dropout. This happens every few minutes, even with a locally-downloaded file.

Using Airpods Pro (over Bluetooth, of course) on an
iPhone X running iOS 14
Infuse Pro 6.5 (3234)

Thanks for any help or suggestions you might have!

I get the same issue in the music app. I’m thinking it might be ios14 related

I should have mentioned that Infuse is the only app experiencing this problem. All other apps that play audio work fine.

Is this happening with all files or just a few?

As a quick test, can you try disabling the ‘Dolby Audio Effects’ option found in Infuse > Settings > Playback to see if this has any impact?

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it did not make a difference. It also doesn’t seem to matter what the source of the file is – either streaming from my home server (Jellyfin), or downloaded locally to the iPhone, the audio drops out regardless.

Same problem here (Airpods 2, iOS 14.4.1, infuse 6.6.2). :frowning:

I have the same issue, using

  • Airpods Pro,
  • Infuse 7 (happened with infuse 6 also),
  • iOS 14
  • iPhone Xr.

My backend is a Plex server, and the same video can be played back using the Plex client app without this sound issue.
No transcoding involved.
Last time it happened with a H264 1080p movie which has AC3 5.1 audio track.

I’ve already posted a support ticket about this 2 weeks back, haven’t got any response.
I will need to cancel my Infuse subscription and change to the native plex app if this issue persists.

Sorry for the delay here.

Is this still a problem in Infuse 7.0.7 and iOS 14.6?
