Audio dropout on Apple TV

Hi!

Sometimes, when playing a file on Apple TV, the audio suddenly cuts out. To get it back, I usually have to rewind a few seconds or stop and start the playback again—rewinding seems to be the easiest way to restore the sound.

Is this a known issue?

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanxs!

I read a comment on here about random audio drop outs, I just had the same happen to me last night and again today. Pressing back 10 seconds restores the audio but it is annoying.

code: NA7YX

I had that happen to me as well… I figured it was me as"the repeat" didn’t drop out

Sound disappearing just happened to me again, skip back 10 seconds sound is all fine and carries on.

Code: W6W4B

Just happened again, same thing sound went, rewind 10 seconds, sound come back and a rise on as normal.

Code 0S5HY

We can take a look, but I found this report which seems to suggest it’s fixed by resetting the HomePods (if you’re using those).

Interesting, I am using HomePods as a Stereo Pair so I’ll give that a whirl!

James, I have just had this happen while watching a TV show using Bluetooth Headphones (so not using the HomePods). Same scenario, audio goes, rewind 10 seconds, audio comes back and continues to play fine.

Diag Code: MGV8G

What type of audio device are you using?

If you see this again, would you be able to send in a report from your device and post the 5 digit code here?

Hi!

I’m using HomePods Mini with the Apple TV.

It happens almost every day.

It’s holidays in Spain, so I won’t be at home till Monday. I will try then to send the report.

As a separate issue, sometimes when you pause the video, and later you want to hit play again, the Play button on the remote controller won’t work. You have to hit the Mute button and it works as if it was the play button. It’s strange…

The same thing (a random audio dropout) happened to me for the first time yesterday while watching a 4K SDR file and using AirPlay for audio output (not to HomePods, but to a pair of Sonos speakers in my case).

I had this happen to me a couple of times the other week, also using Homepod Minis for audio.

Hi!

It happened again!

That’s the five-digit code you asked for: F4M83

I hope I do it right…

Thanks!

We’re looking into a few reports of this.

Can you test today’s 8.1.4 update to see if the issue is still present?

OK!

I will update and give it a try!

Hi!

It happened again after the update.

Code: 436FT

I hope you can find the issue!

Thanks!
