ATV Flash for windows - how to jailbreak apple tv and install ATV flash using Windows XP

Hi,

I am a novice. I purchased and downloaded the ATV flash beta version for Apple TV 2nd generation. I use a Windows XP PC. I downloaded the ATV Flash.exe file. However I cannot find clear instructions on how to install it on the Apple TV 2nd gen using Windows XP PC. The only instructions including that for jailbreaking the apple TV are for Mac users.  Can anyone from Firecore help me?

I have the same problem. I use Windows 7, but how can I find jailbreak tool for Windows? The installation guide only provide the tool for Macs.

I received an email from Firecore that they would be putting up a step by step process of using ATV Flash for Windows soon. No idea when this would be available

I also have the same problem.  I haven't found anywhere in the internet instructions for jailbreaking with PC / windows.

I would appreciate any help regarding this subject.

Best,

GF

Hi,

How to install  ATV flash for apple tv 2. Please help. No clear instructions for windows. No wonder they are making money even before the release for new S/w support.

LimeRa1n.com and or RedSn0w .96 beta6 will jailbreak the ATV2 but its still a little hoky. Not for the novis! A new jailbreak is due out any day now that will allow us easly jailbreak the ATV2 and install these sweet addons to the Apple TV 2nd gen.

if this is challenging for you, wait for an "untethered" version. The requirement to boot tethered (connected to pc) with the current jailbreaks seems to be rather challenging for people. several people i talked to were taking their atv(g2) into the other room where they plugged it in and nothing.. you got to have it connected to boot every time.

If it makes you feel better, I am in the same situation as you guys. Strictly Windows XP and 7 here. I have been programming microcontrollers (Intel and Microchip) all my life and I find only aficionado talk in this forum. Even myself bought the product last week and bought a micro USB cable and I am stuck trying to get a simple jailbreak procedure (or software) for windows. Which makes me wonder if I'd show up at my local Apple store they would let me jailbreak using one of their macs ???

Everyone seem to expect you to know what a theter or untheter is all about and there seems to be a great lot of fun in these extremely confusing versions numbering... How about for the software questioning the ATV box and letting you know that you can go ahead or not...

I think I shoud have waited for Apple to put Safari themselves in the ATV 2g since this is the only thing I dream of. I assume they most likely will do it eventually !

Note: Please post a note on main page. This product is NOT for Windows users !!!

Hi guys,

So if I jailbroke my ATV 2G on my mates Mac and installed aTV Flash (Black) then ran it off my Windows itunes back home it would run fine?

If it's NOT for windows users, then why is there a windows installer?

I think windows users one year subscription for fire core should not start until the real release is out. We are basically getting a shorter subscription with the software for paying early.

I am confident when it’s official release comes it wil be awesome.

I kinda of agree with you. Plex is supposed to be coming out with Windows Server here by the end of the month. Im counting the days. I am a windows only man and dont have access to a mac outside of a VM which is too much a pain in the ass.

Just paid - downloaded the Beta, I wish the windows jailbreak/install version will be out soon....

Thanks

I received this from Fire Core today in response to my request for windows instructions for jailbreaking ....

  • We're sorry for the trouble. In addition to aTV Flash (black) we're working on new jailbreak app that is specifically designed for the AppleTV.

We're hoping to have the first beta version of this available within the next 1-2 weeks.

    -Fire Core Support

and its still not out...... :(  ...how long will it take now? I dont know anybody with a mac so I still have to wait :(

same thing happen to me

ATV flash will reset all users when the final version is out…so we will get a full one year product support!

This is what happens when a young group of guys tries to run a business off of someone elses work! If they had the skills to develop there own jailbreak they would have done so already to promote and sell Atv Flash Black! I'll bet you won't see a working version of Seas0npass for windows until after Greenp0ison releases RC6 and after the code goes public after the next Apple firmware release.

Hold onto your money and wait until Greenp0ison is released and install XBMC for free!!!

thats true

Greenpoisen is out for Windows.  Installed XBMC as a part of the installed of Greenpoisen.  Untethered boot.  XBMC installed.  Overflow installed.  life is damn good.
