aTV Flash (black) vs XBMC vs Plex vs NitoTV vs MiRow???

OK, clearly this is my first rodeo, so bear with me.

My ATV2 has been set up as such: Stock Software 4.4.4, jailbroke with Seas0n Pass 0.8.1, running aTV Flash (black) 1.2.

Now, I’m not really sure what the tradeoffs/differences are between running/installing aTV Flash (black) vs. XBMC vs. Plex vs. NitoTV vs. MiRow.

I have minimal knowledge of how each of these programs operates and interacts with one another (if they do at all).

Could someone please just give me a quick comparison so I know where to begin? It’s all a bit overwhelming.

The one major need I have is to eliminate a computer from the equation and have the ATV2 access my video files via a networked hard drive. Any of the above programs that do not meet this criteria would not be suitable.

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

you are good to go with the basic install. the media player will play your files right off the networked HD. No Plex or XBMC needed. your requirements are the same as mine were when i purchased atvflash.

Thanks, David. So that’s what I’m doing right now, but I’d still like to know what the other programs give you that Flash doesn’t and vice versa.
