Atv 2 - jailbroken untethered but cant login with putty

Hello everyone, thanks in advance for any help. I recently updated my tethered boot ATV 2 to the latest untethered firmware. The jailbreak went fine and I have the firecore logo on my settings tab. However, my ability to ssh is completely gone with the update. This cannot be a virus in my view unless it has been packaged with the update - ssh was working fine with the tethered boot but disappeared with the update. When I connect with putty I get the message ‘connection timed out’. I tried rejailbreaking twice after doing an official factory restore in itunes but as soon as I try to connect after the rejail I am getting the same message. I tried connecting through a wired pc instead of the wireless laptop - once I got the ‘connection refused’ message before it starting timing out again. This struck me as odd, two different error messages?

The long and the short is that I have a jailbroken apple tv that is all but useless - cant get xbmc, nito tv or anything installed and I am very reluctant to shell out for ATV flash since if putty cant connect I dont see how it possibly could.

Can anyone help - bearing in mind I have rejailed and restored twice with the same result - as soon as it is completed and connected to the network I cant login to change or install anything.

Cheers

Buy ATV Flash save yourself a lot of hassle 8)

aTV Flash requires SSH therefore if you cannot log in using putty you won’t be able to get aTV Flash to install.

Stupid question… do you have the right IP address?

I have fixed the issue, it WAS ip related, but I am absolutely certain that my apple tv settings were displaying a different ip address than the actual one designated to it by my router. I jailed the device three times and three times my router gave it the same ip through a local wireless connection (according to the atv itelf) - 192.168.11.7. However, I eventually downloaded itunes on a different machine, and when atv flash black used bonjour’s auto discovery function it found the ip to be different - 192.168.11.3. I was then able to immediately connect using the ip address on tv FLASH’S auto discovery.

I have no idea why but I know this; the original ip address displayed in my apple TV’s settings was wrong. I wonder if this is the case for others who are having problems with ssh - they are trying to connect with the wrong ip and perhaps another device on their local network?
