I will get tomorrow a Yamaha CX-A5100, which is a Dolby Atmos en DTS-X Preamp.
I know, that for now Applte Tv 4K does not output Dolby Atmos.
I have an understanding, and would like to know, if it’s correct.
If I read, via Infuse, a MKV with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, Infuse will transform that to a Dolby True HD 7.1 Soundtrack and the AppleTV 4k will decode that to a 7.1 LPCM signal?
Is that correct?
if not… what will receive my preamp?
Typically, a video with an Atmos track will contain at least 2 separate audio streams.
TrueHD+Atmos / TrueHD (lossless)
AC3 (lossy)
Since the Apple TV does not support passing object metadata (which is required for Atmos), Infuse will read the normal TrueHD audio track and send that as lossless LPCM to your receiver.
The main difference between TrueHD and Atmos is TrueHD channels have fixed positions (L, C, R, Side L, R, Back L, R, LFE) and Atmos sounds are not tied to a specific channel (in the traditional sense).
