I havent checked this for a while, so wanted to ask our gurus, I currently have a jailbroken ATV2 4.4.2 tethered. Essentially, I would like to move to untethered jailbreak. Built a new built in shelf in living room and apple tv will no longer be easily reachable. Are there any options to achieve this? I have no signatures saved unfortunately… Also does anyone know when version 5 will have untethered jailbreak?

With or without a signature, 4.4, 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 are tethered
but 4.4.4 isnt…

your question was about 4.4.2
there is no way, as of yet and probably never, to upgrade from any version to 4.4.4 with or without a signature. Each blob is specific to the unit and cannot be changed. At the time when apple was still signing 4.4.4 was any version able to be upgraded. Now you and the entire world is stuck with there versions unless you decide to upgrade to 5.1.1 and that is tethered.
You are stuck with 4.4.2 as your firmware and cannot upgrade to 4.4.4 unless you had some pixie dust or find a box running 4.4.4 on it. Try ebay.
I could always do factory reset and version to 5, thats why another question was if anyone knew when untethered for version was coming out…
please note i didnt say i wanted to upgrade to 4.4.4 I just want to get untethered jailbreak at one point whenever that comes in place, most like with version 5. Just want a freaking untethered jailbreak someday…
like i said in that last post. your only option is to get a box that has 4.x.x native firmware capable of untethered boot. From what i here, we have to wait for apple to roll out a version that can be modified to untethered. It’s like the old 4.4, 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 where they were only tethered. We wait and hope the apple gestapo drops the ball and leaves a hole to exploit.
