AppleTV - Getting screensaver

Hi All,

On AppleTV 4K (last generation) it seems that in the last update something changed. The ATV cannot recognize that something is playing, after a while I get screensaver on my ATVs. Am I the only one who is suffering with this?

I created a diag file for further invetigation: KTCHZ

Are you saying that during the viewing of a video in Infuse you’re getting the ATV screensaver starting? Or is it when you have Infuse open but not playing a video?

What version number of Infuse and what version number of tvOS?

When I watching the movie the screensaver just starting after a while. I have two ATVs both of them doing this after the last Infuse upgrade.

Everything is on the latest version. 18.5 and Infuse Pro 8.1.9 (5233)

Just curious, what do you have set on the ATV for the time until screen saver starts?

I’ve checked and I’m lost now, it is on default 5mins. I thought it is 15-20mins as the screensaver is visible after a while and definetely not after 5mins. I have netflix and other streaming apps and only infuse is doing that weird screensaver stuff.

Another quick question, what do you have set for the Streaming Cache under playback in the Infuse settings?

Edited to reference “Infuse” settings, not ATV settings. Sorry bout that.

It is set to Auto

Just as a test, could you try it on “Memory Only”? It sounds like your ATV may be loading the entire movie from your server into memory and disk space and then just playing the video. Without the occasional network traffic it may be thinking all is quiet.

Strictly a SWAG on my part but trying to figure out the quirks.

Maybe setting the sleep to longer than 5 minutes may help too.

I set it to memory only. I will let you know the outcome. Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately this settings didn’t help. I tried to reinstall the Infuse app. Now it is not doing the screensaver stuff just crash the app after a while but only once after ATV is turned on. If I turn off the ATV then turn it on again then do the crash again 10-20mins later. I reopen the Infuse app after crash and I can watch movies/series eternally without any crash. Interesting.

That’s bizarre, maybe @james has an idea of what to try. It may help if right after you get a crash and relaunch Infuse send in a diagnostics report and post the 5 digit code here in this thread.

We’re not seeing other reports of this here so I wonder if perhaps there was a bad tvOS update installed.

Not sure if it would help, but you could try doing a factory restore on the Apple TV and starting fresh.

I have two ATVs and both of them are doing the same after the last Infuse update. I don’t think so that the tvOS is the problem here, but I will give it a try.

Did the crash again after that I created a diag bundle: 2QN26
