Apple TV2 6.1.3 Jailbreak Problem (accidentally updated from 5.2.1 to 5.3)

Hi everyone,

I just tried to jailbreak my Apple TV2. After completing the process, iTunes shows me the message ‘your device doesn’t qualify…’. So I’m wondering if I’m using the wrong standard firmware? I have 6.1.3 on the Apple TV. Do I need to roll back to an earlier version, or is there anything else that I’m doing wrong?

Is there any way to downgrade?

I accidently upgraded as well, so i assumed when i installed the latest version of seaons pass he would restore it to 5.2.1 how ever right at the end of the process i got the error message “this device isn’t eligible for the requested build”. Is there anyway to fix this?

I have just bought an apple tv 3 and I updated it to the last version 5.3.

Is there anyway I can jailbreak it:

for now if you are on 5.3 and you don’t have a previous shsh blob saved then the thread below is your only option. You’ll be on 4.4.2 but you’ll at least be jailbroken

Will this work with 5.3? I thought u could not downgrade unless you have shsh blob saved?

Yes, it will work with ANY version.

Just tried doing the downgrade suggested http://forum.firecore.com/topic/10197 .

It goes well up to the point where I’m done with the tethered jailbreak. I get the confirmation message that the jailbreak completed. I remove USB, plug in HDMI. The LED on the Apple TV won’t stop flashing (even after a couple of minutes) and I’m not getting any signal through HDMI. 

I’ll try again in the morning. Any suggestions, please let me know.

We are waiting since 15 months … I advise you to sell it and buy android box for 50$ supporting xbmc

There is no jailbreak available for the ATV3 so not much point in wasting time trying to do it.

Hi all,

Ok, I’ve tried this 4.4.2 downgrade from the current 5.3 version. After 2 hours, this is where I officially give up. I guess I’ll just wait for the official jailbreak for 5.3 or I’ll eventually sell my Apple TV, going back to my regular Mac Mini media center.
