Apple TV new Audio Setting (Sonos 👍🏻)

tvOS 26.4 also includes a new setting for “Continuous Audio Connection.”

in part, to address complaints from Apple TV users who use Sonos speakers paired with AV receivers

I have not tested but a new audio setting called ‘continous audio connection’ was added in 26.4 beta.

I moved your post to a thread that is already discussing this.

Uh it puts everything in a dolby Mat container like it currently does for eac3 atmos

Wouldn’t this mean that infuse on apple tv could do truehd atmos by the apple tv putting it into a mat container?

Almost certainly not I’m afraid. Apple TV already uses Dolby Mat, this new setting seems to just make sure it’s used all the time instead of switching between Mat, stereo PCM, Dolby Digital, etc.

Infuse can already send TrueHD through Dolby Mat, but it’s just the audio (converted to PCM), not the Atmos data. There’s currently no way for apps on Apple TV to decode the Atmos information in a TrueHD audio track, Apple doesn’t support it. It doesn’t sound like Apple has changed this.

We’ll definitely take a look to see if this gives us any magical new options for passing audio, but I would temper expectations.

Hey my tv only supports earc for lpcm at 2.0 but mat at 7.1 so it’s already a win for me
