Maybe i’m overseeing something obvious… but my Apple TV doesn’t update and gets stuck at firmware version 4.4.4
Am I doing something stupid??
Can someone help me or direct me to a manual what I should do??

You cannot update a jailbroken ATV2 by running an update at the ATV end.
Instead you have to rejailbreak the system to get to a later release. If you do this using the just released version of SeasonPass your system will be updated to the 5.3 (untethered) jailbreak unless you manually select a different release (and have saved shsh blobs for that release).
Note that the jailbreak process wipes the existing contents of the ATV2 so after doing a new jailbreak you have to reinstall apps.settings.
