So - having problems with -some- hevc.mkv files. Been thru all the posts I could find here and other places, and the issue seems to have dissappeared for most people over the last couple of years. Still I cant seem to get it fixed … and x265 seems to get more and more popular, so my problems get more and more common.
I am on Infuse 8 pro (lifetime -recently updated) and an Apple TV 4k 1. gen (A1842 - also updated). I have a HDD attached directly to my Asus Router, and acces via SMB – has worked flawlessly for years.
The h265 files are very stuttery … at first I thought it was encoding errors, since the ‘stuttering’ always happen at the exact same places. But – they work fine playing from my computer in VLC so the files are fine.
The specific file I have issues with now is MPEG-H part 2 HEVC/H.265 1900x800 in MKV container.
My questions are:
-
Could this problem be by Infuse ?
-
Could the root of the problem be, that my AppleTV 4k is a 1st gen? And thus fairly old, and maybe not powerfull enough to play H265? (although supporten?, and weird the problems are always on the same frames… should be more random if the processor had a hard time keeping up?)

Could there be ‘some’ encodes of x265 that works fine, and other that dont?? And why ??
Hope someone with a little more insight in this, will share some thoughts
Thx
