Same but different.
Firmware 4.4.3
Hacked SeasOnPass 0.7.9 (270)
Synology DS210+ AFP
I’m able to see my files, but sometimes when starting a movie I randomly get the mentioned AFP-Error. When I try to start the same movie for the second time it works seamlessly.
I’m experiencing the same error. Everything worked just fine yesterday and this morning, I was actually watching a movie using AFP share from my MacBookPro while all of a sudden I got “Network Error”. I tried to reboot the Apple TV but it didn’t help and everytime I tried to access the MBP I got this message:“An error occured, AFP connection failed: unreachable network or incorrect login/password”.
I have checked all the settings and renewed the share from the MBP but nothing seems to work. My aTV can still find the AFP-share when it is activated but as soon as I try “test connection” I’m getting the error; AFP connection failed: unreachable…
Do you have any solution for this? I’ve also tried using an SMB-share but without result.
Exactly the same problem here… Everything was working great a few days ago… Tried to add new shares, restart, uninstall components, also some iTunes changes… nothing could help me so far…
I have a fresh jailbreaked atv, and after my installation of atv flash black, and I am sharing a few folders on my macbook’s hard drive. However, I am getting the above error, every time I am trying to connect.
I had the same problem when trying to connect to my ReadyNas NV+. I couldn’t make it out but decided to update the firmware in my router, a Dlink DIR-655, since it was pretty old. To my suprise it works after that.
Had this problem for the first time last night while trying to access my old MBP that I’ve been using as a media server with ATV for ages. I was dreading a messy and convoluted solution but managed to fix it simply by going into the macs sharing settings and changing the name of the computer (to something much shorter - don’t know if that has any relevance?). Thanks for the great software!
I have the same issue on my Akitio MyCloud NAS. I have all the latest upgrades on all devices and it will not allow me to connect to AFP. Since this happens on many different NASs I assume this is a problem with your software. I hope you will fix this as it is a pain not being able to use my NAS storage for movies and music.
I just bought a new AppleTV 2, installed 4.4.3, used the jailbreak, then installed aTV 1.1
All seems OK, except I cannot connect to my NAS over AFP. I get the same “unreachable network or incorrect login/password” error.
I have tried using hostname both with and without a trailing period, also tried IP address of NAS, nothing worked, whilst my Macs can connect to it fine.
The NAS is a Drobo FS if it makes any difference.
This is actually the key piece of functionality that I wanted to use aTV for, so its a bit annoying.
Any word on a fix for this? I can help test if that’s of any use.
Here’s a clue. When my network share has either a space or a lower case letter in the name, I get the error message. When there are no spaces and all caps are used, the share mounts. This is with the latest Media Player 1.1.1 and Lion 10.7.2 on a Mac.
At what point is someone from FireCore going to address us on this situation? It’s clear that it’s a massive issue for a lot of people. I’ve submitted diagnostic reports and support requests, I’ve tried every fix idea in these forums, and still nothing. It either refuses to connect, or disconnects intermittently.
In my case, it won’t let me connect over SMB no matter how hard I try - so I’m stuck with AFP which fails over and over again.
Could someone from FireCore at least let us all know that you register what we’re saying, and that perhaps you’re looking in to it? It’s frustrating to pay for a service, then be ignored when it doesn’t work as it should.
Having the same problem here. I have never been able to connect to my Qnap TS-459U+ using AFP. Always the unreachable network error. Now I am unable to connect over SMB with the latest Seas0nPass version 0.8.0 (320) and aTV Flash 1.1.1! :( I am using the same share settings i used successfully in other versions. Something is not right. Hoping for a 1.1.2 update soon.
I had the same problem but with standard Apple hardware (Airport Extreme-mounted 2TB Samsung drive). What worked for me was to remove the share and then re-add the login and password…but with the remote. When ever I tried using the iPad or iPhone I got an error, but with the remote i got in on the first try.
Same Problem here: Nothing’s solving the problem. Not re-naming the share, not rebooting everything, nothing. atv CAN access my iTunes Library, but the mediaplayer is out of order. PLEASE HELP!
