I have read as much of this forum that I think looked like the issues I am having.

I have 2x ATV 2 devices a)iOS 5.0 (4099)

                                   b)iOS 5.0.1 (4224)

 

I have attempted to jailbreak both devices with little success. I either get this device is not supported message, or I get to itunes recovery stage, but this states it will update the firmware, which I stopped at assuming it would upgrade to iOS 5.3.

 

I have tried using seas0npass 444 but that still doesn’t jailbreak the devices.

Question 1.

Can above devices be jailbroken untethered. If so, how ?

Question 2.

I have downloaded various ipsw files, can I use them to push to the devices ? If so how ?

I used ifaith but not sure of what I am doing. Get to Exploitation waiting for Apple TV 2 ?

First of all , dump/save shsh blobs of atv you have. Use ifaith for that.

As I have already said, when using ifaith I get to stage 3 exploitation, then program states waiting for ATV and goes no further.

P.S. I would not play around with those two 5.0 as it is tethered jb . I would update it to the latest fw then jb it.
For that one with 5.0.1 it is worth to spare some time to jb it untethered.

Not unless you happen to already have shsh blobs (firmware signatures) for the target release on your ATV2.

Can I use the SHSH blobs from my iOS 5.0.1 ATV 2.

Only for installing a 5.0.1 jailbreak on the device that was used to create the shsh blobs (as they are device and release specific).

You can only use the 5.0.1 blobs to jailbreak the ATV2 with 5.0.1, not for the ATV2 with 5.0  The blobs are device specific.

I have just jailbroken iOS 5.0.1 untethered:(

Now for the tethered iOS 5.0 which I will update to 5.3 before JB
