AI Upscaling Question

So I know Infuse has that now, however, my Nakamichi Dragon also has a setting in which it upscales video to 4K from 1080P. I assume I’m gonna want one or the other off and not both on. I’m not even sure I’m going to want to leave any type of upscaling on anyway, but I was just wondering if anybody knew if there was a preference for the AI upscaling in Infuse or using the upscaling on the Nakamichi dragon and I know obviously it’s gonna be a setting that’s more of a user preference but I just don’t know how that works with having both of those features in two different areas of the video processing.

I’m not sure what your Nakamichi Dragon is, but if you want infuse to output any videos in 4K through Apple TV then it has to output all content in 4K so there will have to be upscaling done for anything <4K. If you don’t have 4K content in infuse then you can set it to 1080 and have your downstream device do the upscaling. The Apple TV can change HDR and frame rate, but not resolution.

The Nakamichi Dragon https://dragon.nakamichi-usa.com/ is my home theater system. It has full video passthrough and can do its own upscaling of any 1080P from source to 4K. I have a few movies and TV shows in Infuse that are 1080P. I guess I can just do a side by side and see which looks “better” or maybe if there is no diff at all.
