It los like Montain Lion has broken my AFP streaming from my iMac to my ATV2. I can still access the external drive I have connected to my Airport Extreme. However, the shared folder on my iMac is nor longer accessible.
This Apple doc may deal with the problem, however, I’m not technically savy enough to get it to work.:
I’m having the same issue after upgrading to ML. I can “see” my folder via “AFP”, but once I test the connection it says “AFP connection failed: unreachable network or incorrect login/password”. I’ve gone through the “Enable File Sharing on a Mac” article and removed and readded my shared folders, and still no luck. I’m connecting via a Airport Extreme and never had to use a password/username before.
Perhaps something in Mountain Lion changed how Mac shares information?
I resolved my issue. Under System Preference -> Users & Groups -> Guest User -> Click “Allow guests to connect to shared folders”. For some reason I had mine unchecked.
Installed Mountain Lion on my iMac… AFP connection is now broken on Media Player. Tried connecting with SMB. Was able to setup and pass test but all media is unplayable. This is the only feature I use FireCore for. Please fix this ASAP or submit an update or a workaround! Thanks!
I said that the AFP is NOW broken, implying that it was working before. And SMB works but does not play shared media files, implying that there are shared folders that I am connecting to. Both AFP and SMB are checked in settings. All shared drives and shared folders are accessible from “Guest” account, “Everyone”, and my own login. I have tried to connect via AFP with my user name and password, with no name and password, and with Guest. Nothing is working. This only started happening after I upgraded to ML.
I double checked my sharing and just to be safe I deleted the share under Manage Shares, Then on my mac deleted the old share and user and then recreated the share and the user with a new password. When I try to add the share under Manage Shares, it sees the new share, but it will not accept the login info when I test the connection.
I thought it was all working. I was wrong. I can see the ATV, the itunes could see it. My cyberduck can see it. The movies I have already downloaded onto the ATV is still there… but soon as i sync with iTunes it chucks a darky, spits off the network, wont upload new movies, even tho its seen by cyberduck/AFP… been working on this for a couple of nights now… frustrated…
I restored the AppleTV 2 in iTunes and then tried to jailbreak it again. Sea0nPass seemed to have worked and uploaded the file and restored and all was well. I plugged it into my TV and no jailbreak! I have HuluPlus now… but no jailbreak. All I want is for media player to get a good AFP connection… WTF is going on!!!
After running Seas0nPass do you see the red FC logo in place of the normal Settings icon? If the logo is not there then the Apple TV is not yet jailbroken.
