Actor cross-search doesn't work properly

Infuse 8.3.5

tvOS 26.2

Jellyfin Server 10.10.7

Diagnostics: 1R9XN

Selecting an actor or crew from the Cast and Crew list only shows a single title (the same title the selection was made from). Previously this showed all titles in the library with the same crew/cast member.

same problem

TVOS 26.3
INFUS Pro 83.5.

no Jellyfin, no plex …

For round about 3 years i was switching to the dark side ( Nvidia Shield )
Now, back to Apple TV and using Infuse again.

Still the same issue and it looks like, that i´m not the only only.
Is there a reason, why no one from Infuse support is taking a look into or even giving an answer ?

It is anoing for a paying costumer to not even get an answer from support :frowning:

This issue still exists in version 8.3.6.

@james this seems to be a regression - this feature worked well until recently. What changed?

Today I found out, that I got the same problem. Is has to be a new problem for me, because it was working well in the past. I had not changed anything in the Infuse settings. I use Infuse on my Apple TV with an emby database behind it on my local server.

To find a cure I deleted the metadata from infuse and let it retrieve it again. I turned on background refresh in the Apple TV settings for infuse.

Result: The problem persists. Sometimes it fetches all the data, but most of the time it doesn’t. For example it shows that Christian Bale is in the The Dark Knight and also in The Dark Knight Rises but not in Batman Begins. Until I open this movie, then it shows him as an actor in all three movies. And yes, I got all three movies in my database. I do not expect for movies to show up, that I don’t have.

I waited a moment for the background refresh to do something, but it doesn’t.

Infuse Version: 8.3.6
tvOS Version: 26.2 (23K54)
emby Version: 4.9.3.0

I going to write the support and hope for a fix. I will share it, once it’s fixed.
Hang tight :vulcan_salute:t2:

Environment

  • Infuse: 3.8.6

  • Device: Apple TV (latest gen), model A2843

  • tvOS: 26.2

  • Network: Ethernet

  • Internet: 8 Gbit/s line (measured ~700 Mbps down, upload OK)

  • Media server: Jellyfin 10.11.6 (Docker)

  • Host (jellyfin) : Debian 13 (under Proxmox)

Feature impacted

Infuse has a great feature: when browsing a movie/series, you can click an actor and Infuse shows other movies/series in your library where that actor appears.

Bug description

This feature recently became unreliable and now seems globally broken: the actor page does not show all titles in my library for that actor until I open the other title first (as if the actor-to-library mapping only updates after visiting the other item).

This is not specific to one actor: I can reproduce it with any actor. I used one example in my video because it’s easy to verify.

Steps to reproduce (example)

Actor: Michael Emerson

  • Title A: Person of Interest (in my Jellyfin library)

  • Title B: Lost (also in my Jellyfin library)

  1. Open Person of Interest in Infuse.

  2. Go to cast and select Michael Emerson.

  3. Tap the actor to view “other titles in my library”.

Actual result

  • Infuse shows only Person of Interest, as if the actor appears nowhere else.

  • Then I open Lost, go to the cast, and tap Michael Emerson there.

  • Now the actor page shows Lost (expected), and if I go back to Person of Interest and tap the actor again, Lost suddenly appears there too.

:right_arrow: It looks like the actor cross-library index / cache only gets updated after opening the other title’s metadata page.

Expected result

When I tap an actor from any title, Infuse should immediately list all matching titles in my library for that actor, without requiring me to open the other titles first.

Frequency / Scope

  • Always reproducible

  • Global issue (not limited to Michael Emerson)

Extra context / hypothesis

Long ago I manually edited some metadata on the server side and possibly “locked” metadata updates. I’m not sure if that could affect how Infuse matches “People” across titles, but I’m mentioning it in case it’s relevant.

Questions

  1. Is this a known issue in Infuse 3.8.6 (or with tvOS 26.2) related to People/actor cross-library indexing?

  2. Is there a recommended way to rebuild/refresh the actor index in Infuse (clear cache, refresh metadata, re-sync library, etc.)?

I moved your post to an already running thread discussing this issue.

Note that it is tagged as researching.

@james given the examples provided by the community, can you please acknowledge the regression here? Is a fix for this issue being worked on?

Thank you !

Update 6 February 2026: Upgraded to Infuse 8.3.7 and performed a full metadata reset (deleted all metadata in-app, then re-fetched it). Unfortunately, the problem persists.

Environment

  • Infuse: 8.3.7 (updated 6 February 2026)

  • Infuse Sync 1.5.2.0 (Jellyfin plugin)

  • Device: Apple TV (latest gen), model A2843

  • tvOS: 26.2

  • Network: Ethernet

  • Internet: 8 Gbit/s line (measured ~700 Mbps down, upload OK)

Hello,
I can confirm that the problem persists with version 3.8.6.

I find it unfortunate because it’s not a bad application, but the developers should fix this.

  • Infuse Pro (3.8.6)
  • 3 Apple TVs (tvOS 26.2)
  • 1 iPad Mini 6 (iPadOS 26.2.1)
  • 2 Emby Servers (Docker on two servers) (v.4.9.3.0) with InfuseSync (v.1.5.2.0)
This problem has appeared in several versions of Infuse.

It’s starting to take a long time to get a fix.
Thank you to support for providing a solution.

Try updating to 8.3.7

I tryed already updated my post and 8.3.7 doesnt correct it

…I had this for years on and off. As Infuse has no counters at all, you never compare and be sure it display all movies from your collection, when you make a search or click on a person. Probably it is affecting only huge (> 5000 movies) collections as I almost never saw complaints here.

The problem still exists in version 8.3.7.

Update 2 : It is still not working properly with the infuse 8.3.8 Apple TV version)

Note this thread is still tagged as “in progress” and you can see when it will be addressed here

This should be resolved in today’s 8.3.9 update. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for your patience.
