Is there a way to access music from Media Player in the ATV2 using an iPad or iPhone app? I’d like to select music without turning on the television. I really like MPaD and MPoD from http://www.katoemba.net/makesnosenseatall/mpad/. I’d like to do the same thing on the ATV.
There is no “music in Media Player,” as Media Player is simply streaming that music from your own network location. So why not use MPaD and MPoD (or whatever) to connect to that same network location, and play it that way? Leave the TV out of it. If you want to play the music to your stereo, you can always use AirPlay…
Well, to begin with, MPaD and MPoD communicated with a system that runs mpd (Music Player Daemon). Now if FireCore can find a way to install mpd on the ATV2, then I’ll use MPaD and MPoD. I have mad a request to FC to do just that. In the mean time I was wondering if there was anyway to use an iPhone/iPad app to connect to the ATV2 for music playback. AirPlay lets you stream content from an iPhone/iPad to the ATV. Not what I’m looking for.
This is also my wish list. I’m using VNC sometime to control my ATV 2 without turning on TV but it’s not fast response cause VNC is not a fast protocol. And the major inconvenient is ATV do not support touch UI as the other iOS devices do so has to enable direction keyboard to move the selection in VNC.
