7.1 and TV series with the same name (but different year)

Hi,

I’ve faced a problem after update to 7.1.

There is a novel called “War and Peace”. There are different adaptations of this novel. There are TV series produced in 1965 and 2016 years. I have both of them:

Unfortunately, starting from 7.1 Infuse can’t distinguish them and obtain correct metadata for each. If I manually select correct metadata for one of them, both are changed in the same way, although they are located in a separate directories.

It seems that Infuse stores metadata just by folder name and movies with the same name are a problem.

Is there a way to solve this issue? Adding year to the folder name doesn’t work for TV series at all.

Regards,
Oleg

In this case, you may need to add the year to the actual filenames. Doing this should allow Infuse to keep them separate.

As I mentioned this doesn’t work:

  1. Poster on the main folder of the TV series disappers.
  2. Metadata is still changed for both TV series simultaneously.

How do you have things named/organized now?

Did you try adding the year to the actual video filenames, or just the folders?

I tried to add year to the folders only. The structure is the next (sorry for russian names):

TV series
..|-> Война и мир (2016)
....|-> Сезон 1
......|-> Война и мир - S01E01
......|-> Война и мир - S01E02
......|-> Война и мир - S01E03
......|-> Война и мир - S01E04
......|-> Война и мир - S01E05
......|-> Война и мир - S01E06
TV russian
..|-> Война и мир (1965)
....|-> Сезон 1
......|-> Война и мир - S01E01 - Андрей Болконский
......|-> Война и мир - S01E02 - Наташа Ростова
......|-> Война и мир - S01E03 - 1812 год
......|-> Война и мир - S01E04 - Пьер Безухов

Should I add the year to the actual video filenames as well? How can I deal with the missing posters on folders?

Well, if I add year to both folder and actual video filenames, separation is correct and posters are back. Thank you for a quick help.

Another question: is there a way to force update of the metadata in Infuse if something is changed on TheMovieDB (like translation, description or poster)? It seems that update takes quiet a lot of time (up to 1 day).

Great!

With regards to updates, Infuse will check for new info on TMDb (both metadata and artwork) about once per day, and pull these down automatically. :slight_smile:

Also, if you are making changes on TMDb, it will take about 1 day for their caches to update so this new info is available to Infuse.

Got it, thank you!

I had this problem with the 1965 War and Peace as well, because TMDB had almost no information on it. I have added episodes, descriptions and other key information as best I could. If it doesn’t look right, just yell out or even better, create a TMDB account and fix it yourself.

Interestingly, this was the only show of mine that TMDB didn’t have after the 7.1 upgrade. Everything else matched, sometimes after a bit of renaming !

This is exactly what I do. I have a TMDB account and add missing information for TV shows and movies that I have.

Unfortunately, with Russian (or even Soviet Union) movies there is a huge problem: there are a lot of multi-episode movies. They are not TV series at all, there are no seasons etc. Originally they were present on TMDB as movies. However, Infuse can’t correctly handle such multi-episode movies. The only way to deal with them is to create a copy on TMDB and describe them as TV series. This is so annoying… “War and Peace” (1965) is a good example of such movie, which is present on TMDB as both Movie and TV series.
