Recently bought a larger 4TB drive as I was out of space with a 2TB drive. I had Infuse working through my older iMac with this older 2TB drive but the newer 4TB ExFAT drive gives a no permissions error on Infuse ?? I’v tried to trick it by putting Aliases of file folders in various accessible areas but that doesn’t work… HELP
It would help to know the Mac OS version, and Infuse version number, and what protocol you’re using for sharing. Usually this is caused by not setting all of the sharing permissions.
On the Mac, when you do a “get info” for the new drive make sure you have sharing permissions set there.
On the Mac settings under general also make sure you have given all of the nessasary sharing permissions for the attached drive.
The Mac OS is 11.7.10 Big Sur, when I get info on the drive it only says Custom Access no other options at all! Otherwise I would have changed that. I’m using Disk Tools to erase and reformat the drive it’ll take several hours as I have to transfer all files to other drives … ;-(
That’s at the bottom of the Get Info window. At the top under general does it have a “Shared Folder” check box?
Also what does it show in the Mac prefs under sharing? Is File sharing on? What do you have set for the users when you select the new drive?
File Sharing is ON ( System Prefs ). BUT when I click Shared Folder on the Get Info window it doesn’t stick !! When I reopen the window it is unchecked ???
Did you unlock the lock at the bottom of the window?
You may want to read through this users guide to see if you’ve got the settings covered.
