Is there a way to update to ATV Flash 4.1 AND update to 3.02 without having to go through the USB stick route again?
Thanks.

I would also be interested to know this…
Unfortunately anytime the AppleTV system software is updated (E.G. 3.0.1 → 3.0.2) aTV Flash will need to be reinstalled using a USB drive.
Otherwise aTV Flash updates can be installed on the AppleTV through the Maintenance menu.
I’d also like to know the proper procedure for upgrading to 4.1 and 3.02 given I’m also using an external USB HD.
If you’re using an external drive for primary storage (iTunes syncing) you will need to switch back to internal BEFORE updating the AppleTV software.

Thanks, that’s what I was thinking…1) switch back to internal storage…2) update to ATV 3.0.2…3) Run the patchstick to install 4.1… 4) switch to external storage
Yes, that’s it. The media on your external drive will be retained, so the step to switch back to external storage should be relatively quick.
so update the apple tv to 3.02 and then use maintenance to get 4.1?
sorry 1st time of upgrading
thanks
Actually when the AppleTV system software is updated, aTV Flash will be removed. Once the update is complete you can reinstall aTV Flash 4.1 using a USB flash drive.
