3D videos on Apple Vision Pro

I tried it, there were some bugs but I believe they were ironed out.
Quality looks great.

is this feature still on the roadmap? I can also see that the Immersive Theater feature being pushed back and I got concerned…

Same concerns here about immersive theater.

they seem to be adding fixes for AVP with each release. I’m not concerned

Hi James, great work on all of this. Is there a very rough ETA on 3D or spatial video support for the Vision Pro.

I was disappointed to see 3D on Vision Pro removed from the Upcoming Features (updated 1/31/25) list after having been listed for more than 2 months. It looks like the tag on this thread has also been changed to “wishlist” rather than “in progress.” I truly hope 3D is still being considered for Infuse on the Vision Pro.

I am also hoping for 3D support to appear in inFuse.

Separately it would be nice to have support for Immersive mode (whether playing 2D or 3D) but if there was a choice then getting 3D support feels as if it should be higher priority.

I was also hoping that infuse would support playing 3D ISO files - something that Moon Player (that I am currently using for 3D on Vision Pro) does not support. Interestingly given such a ISO inFuse is happy to play it as 2D (I assume by selecting the stream for one eye).

Don’t forget that you need to click the like button on the first post in this thread to show your support for this suggestion!

The new 4XVR Video Player app for Vision Pro does an excellent job at playing all types of 3D video, including ISOs of 3D Blu-rays. The app is nowhere near as polished as Infuse, but at least there is now a way to watch 3D Blu-rays on the Vision Pro. If 4XVR was able to pull this off, then clearly it can also be accomplished for Infuse.

I was sort of assuming that since InFuse can play the 2D from a 3D ISO, when (if) InFuse supports playing 3D then support for the iso would be relatively easy.

Will be looking at the 4XVR Player as a potential stop-gap in the meantime. Just installed in on my Vision Pro to start playing with it. I see that they allow for up to 5 minutes usage per day on the ‘free’ version which should be enough for basic evaluation.

4XVR has been working pretty well for me, but it has some problems with multichannel audio tracks. Some people have also complained about elevated black levels. But the app has been receiving regular updates and the developers seem fairly responsive to feedback.

If you make an MKV of the 3D Blu-ray, Skybox is much better experience that 4XVR

Skybox looks great, but it only supports SBS or OU 3D formats. It can’t play MVC-encoded 3D content, which is the native format of 3D Blu-rays. So I’d have to spend quite a bit of time reencoding my 3D Blu-rays to SBS/OU MKVs to get them to play on Skybox. With 4XVR, I can just play the ISOs or MVC-encoded MKVs with no reencoding required.

Why even have the app on Vision Pro if there isn’t 3D support or even a theater environment?

Although I would really like support for 3D on the Vision Pro even without that it still is my preferred player for TV episodes.

For 2D films I prefer the InFuse GUI for accessing them, although other players have support for immersive mode I still tend to go for infuse as my preferred viewer as I can view it within one of the environments which works well.

Is the AVP client still being developed? It looks like there’s nothing on the horizon in the Upcoming Features list at the moment …

This would be the perfect AVP app if it had (1) immersive and (2) 3D. The 4XVR app plays MVC ISOs and MKVs directly now so maybe this is something Infuse could do too?

Very happy to beta test obviously – keep up the great work!

I’m certainly hoping that upcoming Infuse updates will focus more on Vision Pro features. I look at the Upcoming Features thread weekly to see if any Vision Pro-specific features have been added to the roadmap. But lately, it’s just been bug fixes and other minor enhancements.

In the meantime, 4XVR is great - I’ve been using it to watch all of my MVC-encoded 3D content (ISOs and MKVs). It has some bugs and it’s nowhere near as polished as Infuse, but the video quality and 3D effect are excellent. It certainly proves that the same features can likely be added to Infuse. We just need to keep this thread at the top of the suggestions list! :slightly_smiling_face:

Absolutely! I’ve been using Infuse for many years on all Apple platforms, and it is by far the best player for Apple devices. I really hope it will fully support the AVP with 3D and Immersive content.

Been using the AVP version weekly .Works very good. It seems they have improved the loading of content info from smb shares as it now comes up right away now (used to take a min or 2). Guess the last thing would be support for 3D movies, maybe vr180 content? Watching movies/TV shows in the AVP is awesome. The resolution and quality is up there with 4K HDR TV’s. Being able to lay in bed with out bothering anyone and watching my own stuff is a game changer!
